Spread The Word!
Authors are a curious bunch; however, I'm not one of them, not yet anyway.
What I am is a writer, which is distinctly different from an author in my mind: my stories haven't been published, so I can't call myself an author, not quite - yet.
In this new era of publishing, things aren't what they were. Back up a few decades and you'll see quite a few authors doing well, selling their books in major bookstore chains across the world and making a living at it. Some of the more famous did very well indeed, with millions of copies sold at their height.
Things have changed; the advent of the internet, e-books and self-publishing has done for the book industry what Mp3's did for music in the 1990's: confusion, resistance to change and even a little fear have meant that publishing has become something entirely different than it was previously.
This is where I need your help.
Right now, it's extremely difficult for new writers to get noticed by publishers or even agents. Some few self-publishing wunderkind authors have managed to parlay hard work and luck into sales figures that would make anyone wanting to write for a living green with envy - but they're the exception.
Nowadays, even established authors have found their sales figures shrinking, meaning that like almost every other writer, they have to have a day job in order to eat. Which, when you think about it, has been the lot of artists since time immemorial and continues even in this day and age.
Back to needing your help: I truly do. Publishers nowadays want to see that a writer they are 'investing' in is worth the effort, meaning that the writer has already established things like good word-of-mouth, an email list, has had their work read by beta-readers and they have likely even paid an editor to do a first pass on their draft. Plus many more things that would have been unthinkable even a few decades ago; such is the reality now.
You can help me by telling people about this site and about what you've seen here, please. Check out the Forums*, read the Beta Reviews* and enjoy the stories when they're posted, plus be sure to drop back regularly for News as it's updated. Getting the word out about The Dwiimm Saga is crucial; the more people that want to read my stories, the more likely it is that I'll be able to afford to write them. My lifestyle is rather minimalist and quite honestly, if I could just write for a living, I'd be one of the happiest people you'll ever meet - truly.
That's my dream that I'm sharing with you here, for the world to see.
Stick around and see - soon enough, you'll be able to see the fruits of our labours here, that I promise.
